University Hospital Leuven is the largest hospital in Belgium and is a tertiary, academic referral hospital. The departments of Hepatology and Abdominal Transplantation are internationally renowned and run the largest liver transplantation program in the country (60-70 transplantations per year).

For the follow-up of Wilson's disease and other neurometabolic diseases, there is a close collaboration between internists and neurologists, and a joint neurometabolic consultation. The Liver Unit has an excellent and longstanding clinical and fundamental research reputation. A large cohort of Wilson's disease patients are followed in our centre, in a multidisciplinary team (doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, dieticians).
